The Council Square is perhaps the most famous landmark of Brasov. She was in the Middle Ages, a place where fairs were organized in Brasov accomodating both Saxons and Romanians as well as those coming from Hungary. You reached the square by Custom Street (now Muresenilor) and near the road were all sorts of goods for sale.
The Council Hall is the main building in the Council Square.
Near the Square is the Black Church, Blacksmiths and Graft Bastions, White Tower and the Black Tower and Schei Gate, Ecaterina's Gate and the famous pedestrian thoroughfare, Republic Street.
The Council Square is probably the most visited place of Brasov, where are organized cultural and artistic events, outdoor concerts as "Golden Stag", etc.
